BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following a week-long break, Lehigh returns to action on Saturday evening as the Mountain Hawks welcome the defending Patriot League Champion American Eagles to Stabler Arena. Lehigh was last in action on January 31 when the Brown and White fell to Holy Cross at home. The Mountain Hawks trailed by only five points with six minutes to go in that game, but scored only seven more points the rest of the way. Marquis Hall led Lehigh in scoring with 14 points, but was the only Mountain Hawk to reach double figures, while classmate Zahir Carrington ripped down a game-high 11 boards. American enters Saturday’s contest sitting in a first place tie in the league with Holy Cross at 6-1. Winners of nine of their last ten games overall, the Eagles downed Army on Wednesday evening in Washington, D.C. by a score of 58-34. The 34 points were the fewest American has allowed since the 1960-61 season.
Marquis Hall is Lehigh’s go-to player, but when he struggles, the Mountain Hawks team usually does too. Hall has scored 15 or more points in nine games this season, and Lehigh is 8-1 in those contests with the lone loss coming to St. Joseph’s.
Lehigh continues to do a nice job of not turning the ball over. The Mountain Hawks lead the Patriot League in fewest turnovers per game, at 12.8 per, and during league play they have turned the ball over more than 15 times in a single game just once.
Saturday’s game will tip-off at 7:05 from Stabler Arena. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling 610-7LU-GAME, by visiting the Lehigh Athletics Ticket Office, located in Grace Hall, or by logging onto Lehighsports.com.
