Lehigh welcomes first place Holy Cross to town

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh closes out the first half of Patriot League play on Saturday afternoon as the Mountain Hawks welcome the first place Holy Cross Crusaders to Stabler Arena. Lehigh has won two straight, including a dramatic 61-59 come-from-behind victory over Bucknell on Wednesday, highlighted by Marquis Hall’s off-balance jumper in the lane with one second remaining. Lehigh overcame a nine-point halftime deficit to down the Bison and pull its league record even at 3-3. Hall finished with a team-high 16 points, 13 of which came in the final eight minutes, while classmate Zahir Carrington registered his sixth double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 boards. Holy Cross comes to Bethlehem having won five of its six league games, including a dominating 68-44 win over Colgate on Wednesday in Worcester. The Crusaders held the Raiders to 34-percent shooting and out-rebounded their league rival 30-18 and recorded a season-high 14 steals.
Saturday’s game features two of the stronger rebounding teams in the Patriot League as Lehigh leads the league in rebounding offense (40.7) and defensive rebounds (28.55) and has two players in the top-ten individually (Carrington, Anderson). Holy Cross tops the league in rebounding defense (28.7), rebound margin (+7.2) and offensive rebounds (13.86) and two Crusaders rank in the top-ten individually (Keister, Cunningham).
With its win over Bucknell, Lehigh improved to 5-2 this season in games decided by five points or less. Under Brett Reed the Mountain Hawks are 13-4 in games decided by five points or less.
The Mountain Hawks are 4-1 in games played on Saturday this season; it is their best mark of any day of the week. Lehigh is also 5-1 in day games.
