“We really just cleaned up our game,” Maurer said. “We hit our shots and we were going after them a lot harder.”
Lehigh could not find its rhythm against the Fighting Sioux, making six errors and totalling just five kills in the first set. While the Mountain Hawks struggled to hit .048 in the opening frame,
The Mountain Hawks were more aggressive in the second set, notching 11 kills, but they also made 11 errors in the set. They jumped out to the lead in the early moments before letting it slip away. The Fighting Sioux only got better in the second set, making 12 kills and just one error for a .423 hitting percentage. The .000 hitting percentage for Lehigh put them in a hole that they could not climb out of, and once again the Brown and White fell 25-16.
“We show flashes of greatness,” Maurer said. “There were some great things that happened today, but it was just too little, too late.”
The Mountain Hawks record for the season is now 4-6. They will return to action on Saturday for the second game of the Towson Invitational against Maryland at 10:30 a.m.
