BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh’s women’s soccer program has been recognized for the work of its student-athletes in the classroom, as the Mountain Hawks were one of four Patriot League women’s soccer programs recognized with the 2008 Academic Team Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). The Mountain Hawks earned the academic honor for the sixth straight season under head coach Manny Oudin with a 3.23 team grade point average in the 2007-08 academic year.
The Academic Team Award is given to programs that posted a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the 2007-08 academic year. A total of 366 programs, 104 men’s and 262 women’s, earned the honor, with Lehigh now earning recognition following each of Manny Oudin’s first six seasons as head coach. Among Patriot League women’s soccer programs, the Mountain Hawks were joined by Army, Bucknell and Lafayette.
The Mountain Hawks placed 10 student-athletes on the Patriot League’s Academic Honor Roll following the 2007 season, with five of the recognized student-athletes: Allie Caldwell, Liz Carlos, Lauren Mains, Emily Means and Alex Warren competing for the Brown and White in the recently completed 2008 season.
On the pitch, the Brown and White posted a 6-10-1 record this past season. All five of the Mountain Hawks graduating seniors have made significant contributions to the team’s academic success, as all five possess cumulative grade point averages of 3.0 or better.
