LEWISBURG,
The Mountain Hawks built a 6-0 lead after three innings, scoring two runs in each of the first three frames.
Seniors Julie Sterrett and Mendy Martin delivered back-to-back RBI singles in the first inning to put Lehigh up 2-0. An inning later, junior Kate Marvel plated sophomore Lisa Sweeney with her fifth triple of the year, and later came around to score on a wild pitch.
Schenbeck completed the scoring for Lehigh with a one out, two-run blast to left centerfield.
Sweeney (13-4) tossed three innings of two-hit ball in the circle, with two strikeouts, before giving way to senior Stefanie Forleza, who allowed two runs on seven hits.
Martin was 3-for-3 at the plate in game one with Schenbeck and sophomore Whitney Lowe each adding two hits.
In game two, Lehigh’s offense continued firing on all cylinders. Freshman Brooke Lewis opened the scoring with a second inning single, plating Sterrett to give Lehigh the lead. Junior Megan Conrad extended the lead to 4-0 with a three-run double that scored Lewis, junior Taryn Hanley and Marvel.
Lehigh added six more runs in the third inning on RBI singles from Martin and Hanley. The Mountain Hawks would capitalize on two Bison errors to add three more runs in the frame.
Freshman Tiffany Curtis allowed just one hit in four and a third innings of work to improve to 8-7 on the season. Christie Wiest (4-12) suffered the loss for Bucknell.
The Mountain Hawks will return to the diamond on Wednesday as they will host the Rider Broncs in a non-league doubleheader. First pitch for game one set for 3:00 pm from Lehigh’s Kaufman Field.
