In game one Lehigh roughed up Colgate starter Kelsey Nordstrom early and often, scoring two runs in the first and three more in the third. Wieder drove in all five of those runs delivering a two run single in the first, then delivered a three-run bomb to left centerfield in the third. Julie Sterrett drove in two more in the seventh inning with an RBI double. Emily Ling picked up her 14th victory of the season giving up a run on three hits while striking out seven in a complete game effort.
The nightcap was a much closer affair. Lehigh took the lead on an infield single by Taryn Hanley in the third. The Raiders would tie it in the bottom of the fourth on a home run by Dorothy Donaldson. The Mountain Hawks would retake the lead in the top of the sixth as Sterrett scored when Steph Palmieri reached on an error. In the bottom of the sixth Colgate took the lead for the first time, plating two unearned runs off Kate Arico who was pitching in relief of Heather Hamasaki. With one out in the seventh, Wieder hit her second homer of the afternoon to win it for the Mountain Hawks. Arico picks up the win to improve to 5-2. Ling came out of the bullpen to pitch the seventh for her second save.
These two teams will wrap-up their four game series with a doubleheader on Sunday. Game one is slated to begin at noon from the Eaton Street Field.
