Lehigh competes at ECAC/IC4A's in Boston

Boston, MA – Lehigh sent several athletes to the ECAC/IC4A Championships this weekend at the Reggie Lewis Track, including K.T. Hessler, Lavar Pope, Rob Hampson, Vaclav Malek, Brian Voorhis and the distance medley team of Dave Merola, Craig Percopo, Scott Duryea and Kevin Ahearn.

 

Hessler placed tenth in the high jump with a leap of 1.65-meters (5’5”), as Debra Vento of Duke won the event with a jump of 1.79-meters.  Pittsburgh took home the ECAC crown with 86.75 points, while Duke was second with 64.25 points and Cornell was third with 58.

 

On the men’s side, Rutgers won the team title with 74.33 points, and it was followed by George Mason with 56 points and Manhattan with 52.  The Mountain Hawks scored four points and came in 39th place overall.  Voorhis placed 23rd in the heptathlon with 4081 points, while Malek came in ninth place with 4894 points, and he then backed that up with a fourth place finish in the high jump, as the junior cleared 2.01-meters, giving the Brown and White its four team points on the weekend.  The distance medley team captured 19th place, while Hampson raced his way to a ninth place finish in a time of 8:19.37 and Pope placed 21st in the 55-meter dash.  No Mountain Hawks will be competing at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships held next weekend in Arkansas.
