Pitching carries Mountain Hawks to a pair of victories

In the first game against George Mason, Kate Arico (4-0) faced the minimum 21 batters and struck out four in Lehigh’s second no-hitter of the season (Emily Ling had one earlier against George Washington). Lauren Haney’s error kept Arico from getting the perfect game, but Arico coaxed the next batter into a
Mendy Martin had two hits and an RBI to lead the offense, while Erin Hengemuhle pitched in with a pair of base knocks of her own.
The second game saw the Lehigh offense kick into a higher gear, as they scored a run in each of the first three innings to take control of the game. Stefanie Forlenza gave up six hits and two runs (one earned) in five innings for her second win of the season (2-0). Fellow freshman Heather Hamasaki then came in to pitch two hitless innings in relief to earn her first career save.
Julie Sterrett led the offense, rapping out three hits and driving in a run. Following her good performance in the first game, Hengemuhle was a factor in this one as well as she singled and scored two runs in the contest.

The Mountain Hawks continue their trip with another pair of games on Tuesday against Indiana-Purdue and
