Lehigh gets back on track with win over Rider

John Stout got the Mountain Hawks off to a fast start, not allowing a point in an 8-0 major decision over Broncs’ freshman Ryan Smith. Rider would get three points back at 133. At 141 Cory Cooperman extended the Lehigh lead, using a cradle to score three near fall points and take a commanding lead over Don Fisch. Cooperman would go on to score a 10-1 major decision.
Sophomore Matt Anderson picked up a tech fall win over Rider’s Bobby Stinson by a commanding 16-0 score. Derek Zinck followed up
At 174 senior Brian LaMay moved up in weight to replace an injured Travis Frick. LaMay battled hard but gave up a late escape and suffered a 7-6 defeat. Sophomore Dave Helfrich subbed for Matt Cassidy at 184 but dropped a 7-1 decision to T.J. Morrison. Jon Trenge did not give up a takedown, in his 10-4 decision over Jeff Black. In the afternoon’s final bout sophomore Paul Weibel held on for a 6-3 decision over Rider’s Tyler Rees.
With the win Lehigh improves to 3-1 on the season against nationally ranked opponents. The
