Lehigh rolls past Georgetown for 600th all-time win

The victory is number 600 in the storied history of Lehigh football. The Mountain Hawks join Fordham and Lafayette as the only current Patriot League member schools with 600-plus all-time wins.
It didn’t take long for the Mountain Hawks to get on the board Saturday afternoon. Lehigh junior Gerran Walker returned the game’s opening kickoff 89-yards following some excellent blocking untouched to the end zone to give Lehigh a 7-0 advantage just 15 seconds into the contest. The Hoyas responded and moved the ball 7 plays and 65 yards, scoring on an eight-yard option pitch from quarterback Andrew Crawford to freshman running back Emir Davis. With time winding down in the half, the Mountain Hawks built their lead back via a quick strike. Borda led
The third quarter saw the Mountain Hawks take their biggest lead of the afternoon, but they had to earn it. On third-and-long from their own three yard line, Borda caught Lee Thomas over the middle on a huge gain out past the 40 yard line. From there, it wasn’t long before Borda threw his fourth touchdown pass of the day. This time, it was a 62-yard strike to junior Winfred Porter to make the score 35-12.
However, the Hoyas again showed their resiliency. This time, the offense didn’t even take the field. Freshman Jasper Ihezie ran the ensuing kickoff back 91 yards for a score to make the score 35-18. Having found no success on extra point opportunities, the Hoyas attempted a two-point conversion, but that, too, failed.
With 1:26 left in the third quarter, Eric Rath scored on a one yard run – Lehigh’s first rushing touchdown of the day to catapult the Mountain Hawks to their largest lead of the afternoon at 42-18. That score capped a six play drive.
In the fourth quarter, Karrie Ford scooped up a Kim Sarin fumble and took it back 40 yards for the score, giving the Mountain Hawks a 49-18 lead with 8:12 remaining in the game.
For the game, sophomore Marques Thompson led Lehigh’s efforts on the ground, rushing for 99 yards on 13 carries. Adam Bergen was Lehigh’s leading receiver with seven catches for 79 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, senior Neal Boozer-Gallman led Lehigh’s effort with eight tackles, while junior Matt Purdy added seven in the win.
