Mountain Hawks upended by No. 10 Hofstra

The Pride took seven of ten bouts on the evening, starting with the first two, a 7-3 decision by Dave Tomasette over Lehigh’s John Stout and then Charles Griffin handed Jeff Santo his first defeat in dual competition with a 9-0 major decision. Lehigh would get on the scoreboard at 141 pounds when Cory Cooperman earned a 7-2 decision over Ricky LaForge. The Mountain Hawks also got wins at 165 from top ranked Troy Letters and at heavyweight from Paul Weibel.
Hofstra was able to build momentum throughout the match as five nationally ranked Mountain Hawk grapplers were defeated, four of which to lower ranked or unranked opponents.
Seventh ranked Derek Zinck was upset by unranked James Strouse at 157 while Travis Frick, battling a leg injury lost a tough 4-2 decision in quadruple overtime to the Pride’s Paul Siemon.
In the night’s marquee match up of top five wrestlers, fifth ranked Chris Stretkowicz utilized a hefty riding time advantage to hand top ranked Jon Trenge his first loss of the season 4-3.
