Lehigh loses fourth straight

Lewisburg, PA – Lehigh continued its downward spiral losing to Bucknell 69-50 on Saturday afternoon at Davis Gym. It was the fourth consecutive loss for the Mountain Hawks dropping them to 4-15 overall and 1-5 in the league. Bucknell improved to 8-11 and 4-2 in the Patriot League. In perhaps the sloppiest half of basketball played this season, the first half lacked scoring on both ends of the floor. Turnovers and poor shooting were plentiful however. After the first ten minutes of the game Lehigh led 7-5. Bucknell led 13-10 at the five minute mark and extended its lead to 24-16 at the half. Lehigh shot just 24% in the half and Bucknell converted just 24% of its attempts from the floor. The two teams combined for 23 turnovers and 37 missed shots in the first half. After attempting just two shots in the first half, Matt Logie came out firing in the second half connecting on his first three attempts, all from behind the three point arc, the third giving Lehigh a 29-27 lead. It wasn’t enough to spark the Mountain Hawks however, and it was the last lead they would see. Three straight buckets from the Bison followed and Lehigh never recovered. Lehigh went eight minutes without a field goal in the latter part of the second half. Logie finished with 13 points to lead the Mountain Hawks. He connected on 3-of-7 attempts from behind the arc. Alex Jensen scored 10 points and dished out three assists. Ra Tiah chipped in eight points and five rebounds and Bobby Mbom added seven points and four rebounds in the losing effort. Lehigh finished with 18 turnovers and shot 31.5% from the field. Bryan Bailey led all scorers with 16 points for the Bison. Bailey scored 11 points from the free throw line in his second game back from injury. Brian Werner scored 15 points and pulled down eight rebounds in the win. Matt Quinn added 12 points and seven rebounds. The Bison finished with 18 turnovers and shot 36.4% from the field. Lehigh returns home to Stabler Arena on Wednesday evening when it hosts arch-rival Lafayette in the second game of a Patriot League doubleheader. Tip-off for the men’s game is scheduled for 7:30.
