Lehigh holds on for win

Bethlehem, PA – Junior Matt Logie and sophomore Alex Jensen combined for 43 of Lehigh’s 79 points as Lehigh picked up its first Patriot League win of the season 79-74 over Colgate on Saturday evening at Stabler Arena in front of an excited crowd of 1,639. Lehigh improved to 4-11 overall and 1-1 in the league with the win while Colgate fell to 8-6 overall and 0-2 in the league. Lehigh led 41-36 at the break but Colgate took the lead just three minutes into the second half and held it for a majority of the half. The Raiders led by as much as 11 with 10:22 to go in the half but the Mountain Hawks didn’t quit. They slowly chipped away before taking the lead 75-74 with 1:33 to go on a Jensen jumper. The game had visions of last year’s overtime thriller in which Lehigh won 79-77 in overtime. A 6-0 run by Lehigh however in the last 1:33 gave Lehigh the win. Four free throws by Logie in the last minute sealed the deal for the Mountain Hawks. Two key blocks by junior Matt Crawford, the first on lay-up by Pat Campolieta with 16 seconds to go and the second on Dave Hardy with 7 seconds remaining ensured Lehigh the win. Logie finished with a team high 23 points on 7-of-11 shooting and Jensen finished the game with a season high 20 points including two three pointers. Jensen added seven assists and two rebounds to the effort. Crawford played a solid defensive game recording five blocks and grabbing a team high six rebounds to go along with eight points. Senior Scott Taylor chipped in eight points and five rebounds and sophomore Ra Tiah scored seven points, pulled down four rebounds and dished out three assists in his first career start. Colgate’s Howard Blue led all scorers with 24 points on the night. Blue pulled down a team high eight rebounds for the Raiders. Campolieta added 23 points and six rebounds in the losing effort. Mark Linebaugh finished with 11 points to round out the Raiders in double figures. Lehigh returns to action on Wednesday evening when it takes on Navy at 7:30 in Annapolis.
