Corsi, Roseann
Roseann Corsi
- Induction:
- 2024
In a tenure that covered 47 years of service to Lehigh University and Lehigh Athletics, there were few, if any, student-athletes that were not influenced by the work done by Roseann Corsi.
In her early days, Corsi worked with the legendary John Steckbeck as a coordinator for intramural sports and recreation. She also spent two years as an assistant volleyball coach.
From there she went on to over see Lehigh Athletics’ public and community relations efforts. Corsi was instrumental in forming and leading Lehigh’s award-winning C.O.A.C.H. program (Community Outreach by Athletes who Care about Helping), where Lehigh student-athletes regularly gave back to the Bethlehem community. One of the biggest events that Corsi led with the assistance of Lehigh’s student-athletes was the annual Adopt-A-Family initiative where Lehigh’s athletic teams adopted local families during the holiday season.
Corsi also spent more than 20 years overseeing the Athletics department’s work study program as well as its community volunteer program. She also served as director of Lehigh’s All-Sports summer camp for more than a decade.
Corsi’s dedication to service was widely recognized during her time at Lehigh. She was honored as the 2004 Woman of the Year by the Bethlehem YWCA and was recognized during that same time by the Mayor’s Office, the City of Bethlehem and the Pennsylvania State Senate. Corsi is a three-time winner of the Lehigh University’s Tradition of Excellence Award, and received Lehigh’s ERAC Distinguished Service Award in 1997. Both Lehigh basketball programs awarded Corsi their “Sixth Man” Awards during her time in athletics, with Corsi being the first woman to receive the men’s “Sixth Man” Award, following the 1997-98 season.
In addition to work overseeing Lehigh’s public and community outreach efforts, Corsi later added responsibilities as a representative for the Lehigh Athletics Partnership, where she helped spearhead fundraising efforts for Lehigh’s women's basketball, women's lacrosse, softball and volleyball programs.
“For me, the students and student athletes make Lehigh a special place,” Corsi said. “The opportunity to work with them and help them grow academically, athletically and socially. It allowed me to teach them the importance of service to the Bethlehem Community. It doesn't get any better than that. My special relationships with so many wonderful people which continue to this day is a lifelong blessing.”
Active in the community, Corsi served on the board for both the Women’s Council of the Bethlehem Boys & Girls Club and Holy Infancy School. She also coached volleyball and softball at St. Anne’s Catholic School and the North Central Little League.
Along with her athletics work on campus, Corsi served as a faculty advisor for Theta Xi fraternity and received the University’s Alex Waldenrath Faculty Advisor Award. Her efforts also saw Theta Xi recognized with a Lehigh University Achievement Award for their community service.
“I am honored and humbled by my selection into the Lehigh Athletics Hall of Fame,” Corsi said. “Lehigh has always been in my heart and I will continue to support the Brown & White tradition. I am also grateful to be inducted in this class of elite women.”
A Bethlehem native, Corsi retired from Lehigh in 2021. She now enjoys spending time with family, catching up with friends and playing golf, while continuing to attend Lehigh athletic events and support Lehigh’s teams.
Corsi is married to Frank Scattene ’80, ’88G. She enjoys watching all of her nephews grow, raise their families, coach basketball and baseball and advance in their professional careers.
