Why Lehigh? “It just felt like the right place for me.”
In 2009-10: Assumed starting spot at 165 mid-season and qualified for first NCAA Tournament… won first bout at nationals in sudden victory… reached EIWA finals… posted 9-3 record in dual meets… pinned Navy’s Robby Neill to help lead Lehigh to victory in dual meet.
In 2008-09: Posted 15-4 mark in 19 bouts… wrestled in four duals, winning three matches… made varsity dual debut at 174, defeating Travis Erdman of Princeton 8-3… competed in other 18 bouts at 165… won the Clarion open in late February… placed second at the Edinboro Open and third at the East Stroudsburg Open.
In 2007-08: Deferred Eligibility… compiled 6-4 record competing unattached in open tournaments… went 2-2 at Penn State Open and placed fourth with a 4-2 mark at the Edinboro Open.
In secondary school: Three-time state champion… won the Dave Schultz Award for the state of Florida… ranked in the top-150 nationally by InterMat… placed fifth at the Sunkist Open in Greco-Roman in the fall 2006… Fargo All-American… three-time Florida freestyle champion… three time Florida Greco-Roman champion.
Personal: Son of Sandra Hatchett… brothers Ryan (18) and William Gilhaur (26).
