Mountain Hawks Fall in Series Finale at Army

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Lehigh dropped its series finale at Army West Point Sunday 5-1 at the Army Softball Complex. The Black Knights scored all five of their runs with two outs on the way to a series sweep.
The loss drops Lehigh's record to 21-21 overall and 3-9 in the Patriot League. Army is now 22-20 and 6-3 in league play.
Army's Brianna Coonfare struck for a two-run double with two outs in the second to give the Black Knights a 2-0 lead after two.
Lehigh scored its run in the fifth inning when sophomore Lizzie Kern led off with an infield single and eventually came around to score on a fielder's choice ground ball to shortstop by senior Abbey Tabaka, with Kern diving in safely ahead of the tag.
The Mountain Hawks had two on with just one out in the fifth when Breanna Izzo relieved Amanda Eaglin in the circle and got the final two outs to keep Army ahead.
The Black Knights added a run in the bottom of the fifth on Ashton White's two-out RBI single, and two more in the sixth on singles by Coonfare and Sienna Tepley.
Lehigh mustered four hits against Army pitching, while the Black Knights had 11 hits.
First-year Addison Moorman started in the circle and allowed three runs on seven hits over five innings, while senior Chloe Hess allowed two runs on four hits over an inning of relief.
The Mountain Hawks continue their road swing with a trip to Rider Wednesday before resuming league play with three games at Bucknell next weekend.
