Game Two Rally Falls Short as Lehigh Drops Pair at Army

Junior Holly Lovett went 3-for-5 at the plate and drew two walks, while sophomores Lizzie Kern and Kelly Fricker both drove in two runs in the nightcap.
Lehigh falls to 21-20 overall and 3-8 in Patriot League play. Army improves to 21-20 overall and 5-3 in the league.
In game one, the Black Knights scored two runs in the first inning and three more in the second to go up 5-0. Army added a sixth run on a sacrifice fly in the fourth.
Lovett singled in the second inning to put runners at first and second with nobody out, but the Mountain Hawks were unable to capitalize. She also drew two walks as she reached in all three plate appearances.
Sienna Tepley had three hits and Ashton White added two for Army.
In the circle, first-year Addison Moorman went the first 1.1 innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits. Junior Maddy Clark threw the final 4.2 innings.
Army's Amanda Eaglin earned the shutout with seven strikeouts and two walks across seven innings.
Tayten Moore's two-run single keyed a four-run first inning, with the Black Knights adding two more runs in the second to once again go up 6-0. Hannah Laub also had two RBIs for the Black Knights in the nightcap.

Lovett led off the fourth inning with a double to left center and scored Lehigh's first run on a single to center by Kern.
In the sixth, Lovett led off with her second home run of the season out to left center. After a hit and a fielder's choice/error, Kern singled home senior Sydney Parlett to bring Lehigh within 6-3 with Lehigh getting the tying run to the plate with nobody out.

Army brought Breanna Izzo on in relief of Katelyn Flanders. With the bases loaded and two outs, Fricker singled to left, bringing home two runs to make the score 6-5 Army. Izzo finally got Peyton Sward to ground out to end the inning, keeping the Black Knights up by one.
Izzo set the Mountain Hawks down in order in the seventh to close out game two.

Lehigh finished with eight hits in game two – with Fricker, Lovett and Kern all recording two.
Sophomore Madison Finnerty was charged with six runs over 1.2 innings of work. Senior Chloe Hess followed with 4.1 innings of scoreless relief to keep Lehigh in the game.
Lehigh and Army will wrap up their series with a single game Sunday at noon.
