Lehigh Takes Two on Day Two of Wolfpack Classic

RALEIGH, N.C. – After dropping a pair of one-run ballgames Friday, Lehigh got back on the winning track Saturday at the Wolfpack Classic at NC State's Dail Stadium. First-year Megan Lodge hit a game-winning home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Lehigh past Loyola Chicago 2-1 in its first game of the day. A grand slam by sophomore Lizzie Kern powered a five-run third inning as the Mountain Hawks defeated Toledo 11-3 in five innings in game two.

Sophomore Kelly Fricker totaled three hits over the two wis as Lehigh improves to 7-6 on the season.

The Loyola Chicago rematch was played in a crisp 1:21. Lehigh took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning as sophomore Helen Woloshyn drew a two-out walk, stole second, moved to third on an error, and scored on a Fricker single.

First-year Addison Moorman delivered a strong start in the circle. Moorman kept the Ramblers off the scoreboard through the first six innings on just three hits.

Loyola's Liz Sedakis led off the seventh with a single and scored the tying run two batters later following a Averi Vander Woude double to center field. With the go-ahead run on third, Moorman struck out Skyler Croker looking, her sixth strikeout of the contest, to keep the game tied at 1-1.

Lodge came up with one out in the seventh and drilled the first pitch from Brooke Steinhorst out to center field for her second home run in as many days.

The Mountain Hawks fell behind Toledo 2-0 after half an inning but scored three times in the bottom of the first to go up 3-2. Senior Sydney Parlett singled to left center, scoring junior Peyton Sward, and then sophomore Wrigley Fanter, in her first at bat of the season, singled home two runs to put Lehigh in front.

Eli Enriquez tied the game in the top of the second for the Rockets, before Lehigh answered with three in the bottom of the frame on RBI hits by Fricker, Sward and senior Crysta Duenas.

Lehigh tacked on five more in the third inning as Sward drew a bases-loaded walk and then two batters later Kern hammered a grand slam out to deep center, her second home run of the season.

Sophomore Maddy Clark kept Toledo off the board in the third and fourth innings, before giving way to first-year Maddie Masiko, who closed out the game with a scoreless fifth. Clark allowed three runs on three hits over four innings, while Masiko had Lehigh's lone strikeout against the Rockets.

Lehigh had nine hits against Toledo, with Fricker registering the lone multi-hit game. In addition to Fanter, junior Gracie Smith made her season debut against the Rockets.
