Lehigh Narrowly Defeated By Saint Joseph's 4-3

PHILADELPHIA – #70 Lehigh men's tennis traveled south to Philadelphia for a ranked match against the #73 Saint Joseph's Hawks. The Mountain Hawks suffered their first loss of the season in a narrow 4-3 decision to the Hawks.
Lehigh (3-1) claimed the first win of doubles play, over Saint Joseph's (5-7) picking up a 6-3 victory at number one from Sean Jaeger and Alex Van Lumich. The Hawks closed out the doubles point with 6-2 wins at both numbers two and three to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
The Mountain Hawks struck first in singles competition with a two-set win from Henry Stoller at number six. Saint Joseph's responded with a 6-2 6-0 win at number five to lead 2-1. Jaeger then earned a 6-4, 6-4 win at number one to even the score before Ernesto Ruy's win at number three put the Hawks one win away from the clinch.
Needing a win to stay alive, Van Lumich disposed of his opponent in two sets to tie the match at 3-3. Despite going to a tiebreaker in the first set, Benedict Horn-Bourque ultimately fell in two sets at number four to secure the victory for Saint Joseph's
The Mountain Hawks are back in action tomorrow to host Saint Francis at the Lewis Tennis Center at 11 a.m.
