Quinn Finishes Third, Mountain Hawks Sixth in Fall-Opening Tournament

VERONA, N.Y. – Junior Matthew Quinn finished in third place to lead the Lehigh men's golf team at the fall-opening Red Bandanna Invitational, which concluded Monday at Turning Stone Resort. The Mountain Hawks shot 315 Monday to finish sixth in an 11-team field with a final total of 930 (314-301-315).
 
Quinn was the top finisher not from tournament host Boston College, with the Eagles' Markus Lam and Jack Pogorelc tying for top honors at four over par 220. Quinn finished at six over par 222 (76-73-73). He carded three birdies, 11 pars and four bogeys in his round.
 
Sophomore Noah Zyung was Lehigh's No. 2 finisher, tying for 14th place at 230 (78-75-77). Zyung also carded three birdies in his final round.
 
Junior Charles Schrohe and senior Will Caronchi both tied for 37th place at 239. Schrohe had a strong second round 73 surrounded by rounds of 81 and 85. Caronchi went 79-80-80 in his three rounds. Schrohe made one birdie in his final round, while Caronchi made three.
 
Sophomore Luke Block tied for 57th place at 256 (87-80-89).
 
First-year Ryan Cronin competed as an individual and finished 36th in his first college tournament at 238 (87-73-78). Cronin made two birdies in his final round.
 
Boston College won the team title in its own tournament at 897 (296-304-297). The Eagles beat second place South Dakota by 11 strokes.
 
The Mountain Hawks are back in action this weekend at Colgate's Alex Lagowitz Memorial, Saturday-Sunday at the Seven Oaks Golf Club in Hamilton, N.Y.
