Quinn Paces Lehigh on Day One of Red Bandanna Invitational

VERONA, N.Y. – The Lehigh men's golf team opened its fall season Sunday with the first 36 holes at Boston College's Red Bandanna Invitational at Turning Stone Resort. The Mountain Hawks carded rounds of 314 and 301 for a 36-hole total of 615, putting Lehigh in fifth place out of 11 teams in the field.
 
Junior Matthew Quinn was the top performer for the Mountain Hawks Sunday, carding rounds of 76 and 73 to sit in a tie for fifth place at five over par 149. Quinn totaled six birdies Sunday including four in his first-round 76.
 
Sophomore Noah Zyung joined Quinn with two rounds in the 70s on Sunday. Zyung is tied for 15th place at 153 (78-75). He made five birdies Sunday including three in round two.
 
One stroke behind Zyung is junior Charles Schrohe, who bounced back from a morning 81 to shoot 73 in the afternoon. Schrohe also carded five birdies, including three in the second round, and is tied for 20th place.
 
Senior Will Caronchi is tied for 33rd place at 159 (79-80). Caronchi made one birdie Sunday, which came in round two.
 
Sophomore Luke Block rebounded from a morning 87 to shoot 80 Sunday afternoon and is tied for 53rd place. Block did make two birdies in his opening round.
 
Competing as an individual, first-year Ryan Cronin shot 87 in his first college round, but bounced back with a 73 in round two. Cronin is tied for 41st place. He carded a team-leading six birdies including five in his second round 73.
 
Host Boston College leads the team race at 600 (296-304) with the Eagles leading South Dakota by three strokes.
 
Parker Etzel of South Dakota holds the individual lead at two over par 146.
 
The Red Bandanna Invitational concludes with the final round Monday from Turning Stone Resort.
