Mountain Hawks Fall to Maryland 3-0 In Season Opener

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Lehigh women's soccer began its 2025 campaign with a 3-0 loss to Big Ten foe Maryland, on Thursday night in College Park.

Mountain Hawk newcomers that made their collegiate debuts tonight included Maddie Gage, Paige Place, Tori Okorodudu, Savannah Conner and Lola Wojciechowski. Both Gage and Place earned starting nods to kick off their careers in the brown and white. Junior Elliot Forney also made her first appearance for the Mountain Hawks, starting in the midfield.

Maryland notched the first goal of the game at the 20 minute mark as Kelsey Smith put the Terps up 1-0. The next goal of the contest came shortly after at 21:45, as Ava Morales put Maryland up two goals.

At 41:08, Morales tallied her second goal of the night to put Maryland on top 3-0.

Senior goalkeeper Maggie Ousoujoglou recorded seven saves in the contest while Maryland's Faith Luckey made three.

The Terrapins outshot Lehigh 16-5 and out-cornered them 7-4. Summer Hill, Kat Pluck, Sophia Lis, Paige Place and Faith Dobosiewicz recorded shots for the Mountain Hawks.

Lehigh (0-1) heads back to Bethlehem for its home-opener against Binghamton on Sunday at 1 p.m. at The Ulrich Sports Complex.
