Mountain Hawks Fall on the Road at Army 2-0

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Lehigh women's soccer continued Patriot League play on Saturday afternoon from Malek Stadium at Clinton Field against the Army West Point Black Knights. A pair of goals from the Black Knights, one in the first half and one in the second, propelled them to a 2-0 win over the Mountain Hawks.
Army (5-6, 2-0 PL) struck first in Saturday's game, as Maddi Woodward scored in the 14th minute off a deflected sophomore Chloe Zipprich's save. Lehigh (0-8-1, 0-2 PL) had an opportunity to tie in the 41st minute with a shot on goal from sophomore Eden Freeman Warren, but Army goalkeeper Karalyn Dail to keep the Black Knights ahead entering the locker room.
The Black Knights extended their lead to two in the 56th minute when Bella Conti converted a penalty kick opportunity. Lehigh would send two additional shots on goal from junior Esther Brossard and senior Elliot Forney, but Dail made the saves necessary to keep the Mountain Hawks out of the net.
Brossard, Forney, Freeman Warren, senior Aminah Baruwa, and sophomore Tori Okorodudu all tallied shots in Saturday's loss. Zipprich made four saves on the afternoon.
The Mountain Hawks will be back at the Ulrich Sports Complex on Wednesday, September 30 at 6 p.m. to host Navy.
