BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh head coach Brett Reed has announced the addition of Jalen Vazquez to the Mountain Hawks' program. Vazquez is a 6-foot-3-inch point guard from Carson, Calif., who spent the last two seasons at Pasadena City College.
Â
"We are very pleased to welcome Jalen Vazquez into our basketball program," Reed said. "Jalen has an excellent basketball feel and will fit naturally into a point guard position. Statistically, his assist numbers in college jump off the page and it's clear he has vision as well as the ability to set up his teammates for success. I have enjoyed getting to know him and feel he is a hungry and appreciative young man who will fit in well with our team this upcoming year. He is a strong student and will maximize his opportunities in the classroom as well."
Â
Vazquez played in 59 games over the last two seasons at Pasadena City College, totaling 379 assists, averaging an impressive 6.4 per game. He also boasts an impressive 2.8 assist-to-turnover ratio. Last season, Vazquez averaged 7.9 assists per game which led the nation at the Junior College level.
Â
Playing for coach Ryan Frazer at Pasadena, Vazquez averaged 9.8 points per game over two seasons, including an 11.9 point-per-game scoring average during the 2024-25 campaign.
Â
Prior to attending Pasadena City College, Vazquez was a standout at Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance, Calif., where he played for legendary California high school coach Doug Mitchell. Vazquez played his AAU basketball for the California Stars and coach Juliis Von Hanzlik.
Â
Vazquez's brother Josh played collegiately at the University of Montana and is the Grizzlies' and the Big Sky Conference's career leader in games played. Josh now plays professionally in Puerto Rico.
Â
Vazquez is enrolled in Lehigh's College of Arts and Sciences.
