BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's golf team will host the three-day, 54-hole Patriot League Championship beginning Friday on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club. The Mountain Hawks welcome the other four Patriot League women's golf programs to Saucon Valley, as Lehigh hosts the women's championship for the first time since 2021.
Â
Tee times Friday, Saturday and Sunday begin at 9 a.m. Bucknell and Holy Cross will go off from the first tee Friday beginning at 9 a.m., while Lehigh will play with Boston University and Navy with tee times beginning at 10 a.m.
Â
Lehigh won the inaugural Patriot League Championship for women's golf in 2013. The Mountain Hawks finished third last year in Lewisburg, Pa., with Yuki Zhu and Madison Pineda earning all-league honors.
Â
Saucon Valley Country Club, founded in 1920, has grown from 18 holes and a clubhouse to become one of the largest private clubs in North America. It encompasses 800 acres and consists of four courses, including the Weyhill Course, Old Course, Grace Course and Short Course. The Grace Course opened with nine holes in the fall of 1953 with the second nine opened for play in 1958. Named for Eugene Gifford Grace (Lehigh Class of 1899), longtime president and chairman of Bethlehem Steel, the Grace Course measures 7,091 yards from the championship tees and features greens nearly twice the size of those on the Old Course but without the severe contours.
Â
Pineda and Zhu are the veterans of Lehigh's championship entry. Both players have earned all-league distinction in all of their championship appearances. Pineda was the league's Rookie of the Year for women's golf in 2022 and earned first-team honors. She earned second team laurels in each of the last two years and will be looking to become Lehigh's first four-time all-league honoree in women's golf. Zhu earned first-team honors in both 2023 and 2024, tying for fifth place at both league championship tournaments.
Â
Also competing for Lehigh this weekend will be sophomores Stefania Fedun and Bella Scanapicco and first-years Reese Hannon and Alana Hall.
Â
Lehigh last competed at the Rutgers Invitational, Apr. 5-6 in Piscataway, N.J. Hall tied for 29th place to lead the Mountain Hawk contingent. Hall is one of five different Lehigh players to lead the Mountain Hawks across eight tournaments during the regular season. Pineda led the Mountain Hawks at the Bucknell Fall Invitational and Spring Jackrabbit Invitational. Zhu was the low Mountain Hawk at the UAlbany Great Danes Invitational and the Babs Steffens Invitational. Fedun led Lehigh at the Navy Fall Invitational. Hannon was Lehigh's top finisher at the Lehigh Invitational and the ECU Ironwood Invitational.
Â
The top six individual finishers will earn first team All-Patriot League honors including ties. Individuals finishing seventh to 12th place will earn second team All-Patriot League honors. The team champion will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Golf Regionals along with the individual medalist if she is not on the championship team.Â
