Mountain Hawks Secure 5-2 Win Over FDU

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After picking up a Patriot League win over the Colgate Raiders on Sunday, Lehigh men's tennis returned to action from the Lewis Indoor Tennis Center on Wednesday evening against the FDU Knights. The Mountain Hawks won the opening doubles point in a tiebreaker and went on to claim a 5-2 victory over the Knights.
FDU (2-5) secured a win at number one doubles over Lehigh (4-2, 1-0 PL) by way of a 6-4 victory for Thomas Linley and Gryffin Minor over Marc Blekhma and Sean Jaeger. Ofer Hacohen and Rafael Gracie secured a 7-5 win for the Mountain Hawks at number three, allowing a clutch 7-6 (7-2) tiebreak win for Jose Murariu and Luke Donovan at number two to clinch the doubles point for Lehigh.
Blekhman made quick work of his opponent at number two, earning a clean two-set sweep over Linley at number two to kick off singles play. The Knights responded with a two-set win from Tauras Mickus at number four to set the score at 2-1. The next match to finish was at number three, where Jaeger earned a 6-1, 7-5 win over Minor to put Lehigh one win away from securing the victory. After dropping the first set, Murariu secured a three-set win at number one to clinch the match for the Mountain Hawks.
Following the clinch, Benedict Horn-Bourque picked up a 6-4, 6-4 win over Asaf Schwartz at number five. At number six, FDU's Jorge Alonso-Cortes defeated Wyeth Anzilotti in three sets to conclude the night's action.
The Mountain Hawks return to the Lewis Indoor Tennis Center on Saturday, March 1 at 11 a.m. for a meeting against Drexel.
