Mountain Hawks Finish 11th At Babs Steffens Invitational

DeBARY, Fla. - Playing in its first spring tournament, the Lehigh women's golf team saved its best round of the Babs Steffens Invitational for the final round, carding a 316 Tuesday at DeBary Golf and Country Club. The Mountain Hawks shaved six strokes off their first round score to finish their first spring tournament at 961 (322-323-316). Lehigh finished 11th out of 15 teams.

Junior Yuki Zhu led the way for the Mountain Hawks, both Tuesday and overall. Zhu shot five over par 77 Tuesday to tie for 21st place at 232 (75-80-77). She made three birdies in her final round and was two under par over the course's back nine.

Senior Madison Pineda was Lehigh's No. 2 finisher, tying for 42nd place at 240 (81-79-80).

First-year Alana Hall was the other Mountain Hawk to break 80 Tuesday, carding a final round 78 to tie for 50th place at 242 (85-79-78). Hall made two birdies in her final round.

Reese Hannon tied for 73rd place with the first-year brushing off a tough day Monday to shoot 81 Tuesday and finish at 261.

Competing as an individual, sophomore Bella Scanapicco finished at 263 (84-94-85) and claimed 75th place.

Sophomore Stefania Fedun had to withdraw after her opening round 81 Monday.

Host Stetson led wire-to-wire with the Hatters finishing at 12 over par 876 (296-285-295). Jacksonville finished second, 17 strokes behind the Hatters.

Jillian Fatkin from Queens University was the individual medalist at one over par 217 (73-71-73). She defeated two Stetson players by one stroke.

Next up for the Mountain Hawks will be South Dakota State's Spring Jackrabbit Invitational, Mar. 10-11 in Boulder City, Nev.
