BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After Saturday's scheduled meet against Sacred Heart was canceled, Lehigh men's tennis competed against Mount St. Mary's from the Lewis Indoor Tennis Center on Sunday morning. The Mountain Hawks picked up a clean 7-0 sweep over the Mountaineers to claim their second win of the season.

"Today was a good rebound match for the guys after a tough loss to BYU," said head coach Craig Schwartz. "Overall, we really competed well on the big points. Marc, Jackson and Benedict really took care of business and that was nice to see."

Lehigh (2-1) and Mount St. Mary's (0-3) started play at 10 a.m. in doubles competition. The Mountaineers earned the first win of the day after Filippos Zachiotis and Lucas Evans defeated Jose Murariu and Ofer Hacohen 6-0 at number two. Jackson Morash and Rafael Gracie responded quickly with a 6-3 victory at number three, setting up the number one doubles match to decide the point. Marc Blekhman and Sean Jaeger took care of business 6-4 over Akarsh Gaonkar and Alexi Roy to claim the doubles point for Lehigh.

The first singles match to finish was at number four, where Morash pulled off a dominant 6-2, 6-1 win to put Lehigh ahead 2-0. Jaeger followed suit at number two with a two-set win of his own to put the Mountain Hawks one win away from clinching the dual meet. Blekhman's 6-2, 6-0 win over Zachiotis at number three sealed Lehigh's second win of the young season.

With the result of the match already in hand, the other matches already in progress were not played to their fullest extent. Murariu defeated Gaonkar in a three-set win at number one with the third set being decided in only one game. Hacohen and Horn-Bourque played only one set each at five and six respectively. Both student-athletes picked up one-set victories to clinch the 7-0 sweep.

The Mountain Hawks return to play from the Lewis Indoor Tennis Center on Thursday, February 20 at 5 p.m. for a match against Monmouth.

"We need to keep focused and continue working hard because our schedule doesn't get any easier," said Schwartz. "Today's win was a step in the right direction against a really gritty Mount St. Mary's team."
