BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh senior Jake Roth has been named Patriot League Men's Co-Golfer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday. Roth finished under par on the way to a top 10 finish at Binghamton's Matthews Auto Collegiate Golf Invitational.
Roth and Colgate's Ronav Benak shared the award after both players tied for sixth place at three under par 141. With a total of nine birdies over the 36-hole event, Roth carded rounds of three under par 69 and even par 72 over the two-day event. Roth was Lehigh's top finisher in the event as the Mountain Hawks finished fourth out of 13 teams.
The Rockville, Md., native has played just five rounds so far this fall but has made the most of his play, averaging 70 strokes over those five rounds. Roth was also the runner-up at the Temple Invitational Sept. 22-23.
This is the second Golfer of the Week award for the Lehigh men this fall with sophomore Noah Zyung recognized after winning Colgate's Alex Lagowitz Memorial.
The Mountain Hawks will close out their fall season when they host the Lehigh Invitational Oct. 25-26 on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club.
