Women's Cross Country Preps For Rivalry Dual Meet Against Lafayette

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh women's cross country looks to extend their winning streak over rival Lafayette to 19 on Saturday in the annual rivalry dual meet. The Mountain Hawks will race in their third competition of the year in a 6K race at 10 a.m. in Easton.
Lehigh defeated Lafayette last year by a score of 18-43 on route to their 18th-straight win over the Leopards. The Mountain Hawks placed seven runners in the top ten and four within the top five of all finishers. Lindsay MacLellan crossed the finish line first in 21:56.10 while Maddison Hayes was second with a time of 22:06.51. Christina Yakaboski and Savanah Beavers were Lehigh's other top-five finishers.
The first event of the season for the Mountain Hawks was at the Lehigh Invite 6K, hosted on Lehigh's Goodman Campus on August 30. Lehigh placed second as a team and saw great performances from several runners, including a first-place finish by Beavers (21:46.6). Lehigh's other top finishers included Devon Sutton (11th, 22:42.4) and Grace Hughes (12th, 22:42.7).
Lehigh's most recent competition was on September 13 at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe 6K at Penn State University. The Mountain Hawks placed 15th out of 17 schools. The top finishers for Lehigh included Hayes (87th, 22:05.6), Kaitlyn Highduch (94th, 22:10.9) and Hope Trimmer (115th, 22:34.0).
