Battle Of The Halves Leads To 4-4 Draw At Drexel

First-year Esther Brossard recorded her first career goal to give Lehigh a 1-0 lead, just 45 seconds into the contest.

The early lead held for 30 minutes before junior Sophia Lis finished a shot off a first-career assist from first-year Summer Hill to give Lehigh a 2-0 lead.

In the 40th minute, senior Hope Flanegin put a shot past the Drexel goalkeeper Sammy Widnick, hitting the post. Junior Dakota Russell put home the rebound while falling to secure her first career goal and extend Lehigh's lead to 3-0.

Just over a minute later, sophomore Cyndea Labissiere scored her first-career goal on a one-on-one with Widnick as Lehigh led 4-0.

Just 20 seconds after Labissiere's goal, Drexel got on the board as Lehigh led 4-1 heading into intermission.

Drexel opened the second half strong, as Casey Touey scored her first goal of the evening in the 56th minute, decreasing the Mountain Hawks' lead to 4-2. The Dragons maintained momentum as Touey completed a brace in the 69th minute as Lehigh held a 4-3 lead.

The Dragons' Jess Castorina scored the equalizer in the 86th minute as the game resulted in a 4-4 draw.

Junior goalkeeper Maggie Ousoujoglou recorded three saves while Widnick earned six saves.

Drexel out-cornered Lehigh 9-4 with a majority of the corner kicks coming in the second half (6-2).

Lehigh (1-2-1) returns home on Thursday to play host to Monmouth at 6 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex.
