BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh softball team is headed back to Virginia for the second straight weekend as the Mountain Hawks will play five games over three days in the Rawlings Classic, hosted by Virginia, beginning Friday in Charlottesville. The Mountain Hawks will play two games against Big 12 member Iowa State, two against the host Cavaliers and one against regional rival Delaware at Palmer Park.
Â
Live stats will be available for all five games, while the two games against Virginia will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
Â
Lehigh (2-5) is looking to bounce back from an 0-3 showing at James Madison's Weiler Orthodontics Invitational. The Mountain Hawks lost two games to host James Madison, dropped a 1-0 heartbreaker to George Mason and saw two games canceled due to inclement weather Saturday.
Â
Graduate student Josie Charles missed Friday's games, but came back Sunday to go 2-for-4 with three RBIs in a 17-9 loss to JMU. First-year Gracie Smith had four hits in 11 at-bats last weekend, while senior Brooke Cannon had three hits and three RBIs in last week's action.
Â
Senior pitcher Katelyn Young was outstanding in Friday's 1-0 loss to George Mason, allowing just one unearned run in six innings of work.
Â
Through two weekends of play, first-year Payton Sward leads Lehigh at the plate with a .556 average (10-for-18) and five runs scored. Charles is 8-for-18 in five games with four runs scored and a team-leading six RBIs.

Â
Lehigh will open the Rawlings Classic Friday with a 12:30 p.m. clash against Iowa State. The Cyclones are 6-3 on the season after a 4-1 showing against Bradley, UC Santa Barbara and UNLV at the UNLV Desert Classic.
Â
Friday at 6 p.m. Lehigh will battle host Virginia. The Cavaliers are 6-4 overall. Virginia went 3-2 last week at the Easton Bama Bash, with wins over Southern Indiana and St. Thomas and two losses to host Alabama.
Â
The two games Friday will mark Lehigh's first-ever meetings with both Iowa State and Delaware.
Â
On Saturday, Lehigh will face Virginia again at 12:30 p.m. and then will meet Delaware at 6 p.m. The Blue Hens are 5-4 after a 3-1 showing at last weekend's FGCU Tournament where Delaware beat Middle Tennessee State twice and Akron once, while falling to host Florida Gulf Coast.
Â

Â
Lehigh will close out the Rawlings Classic with a 10 a.m. game against Iowa State on Sunday.
