11/29/2024 11:40:00 AM | Men's Basketball
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's basketball returns to Stabler Arena for a two-game homestand on Saturday evening, welcoming the Marist Red Foxes for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
Lehigh (1-5) and Marist (4-1) have met eight times, dating back to the 1981-82 season. Although the two schools have played in some very competitive games, the Mountain Hawks hold a perfect 8-0 record over the Red Foxes. The two teams have met in each of the past two seasons, including a 65-58 win last year in Poughkeepsie to conclude Lehigh's non-league slate.
If Lehigh wins, they would earn their second win of the season and first over a Division-I opponent. Head coach Dr. Brett Reed's record against Marist would move to 7-0 and Lehigh's overall record against them would move to 9-0.
Lehigh squared off against a familiar foe on Tuesday evening, making the trip west to visit the Saint Francis Red Flash. The Mountain Hawks came back from a 19-point first half deficit to tie the game, but ultimately fell 88-78 in their sixth outing of the season. The Mountain Hawks were paced by senior Tyler Whitney-Sidney, who reached a season-high 21 points on an 8-15 shooting clip. Keith Higgins Jr. put up 18 points with four made triples to extend his streak of double-digit scoring to five games. Cam Gillus was the third Mountain Hawk to reach double figures in the loss, tallying 15 points on an efficient 7-10 clip from the field.
Marist enters Saturday's contest winners of four straight after dropping their season opener to Harvard. The Red Foxes have defeated Richmond, Army West Point, Dartmouth and New Hampshire during their winning streak. Marist finished the 2023-24 season with an 18-13 record and 12-8 mark in conference play, losing to Fairfield in the MAAC semifinals. Sophomore guard Josh Pascarelli leads the team in scoring, averaging 19.4 points per game while shooting 54.8% from three. Sophomore guard Jadin Collins-Roberts leads the Red Foxes in rebounding (5.4) and assists (4.0) per game.
Following Saturday night's game, the Mountain Hawks will again play at Stabler Arena on Wednesday, December 4 against Monmouth at 7 p.m.
Saturday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and can be listened to on Fox Sports Radio 94.7 FM and 1230 AM.
