BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's basketball will play one more on the road before the team's home opener next week, traveling to Los Angeles to play UCLA at Pauley Pavilion on Friday night. The Mountain Hawks and Bruins are set to take the court at 10:00 p.m. EST Friday evening.
Friday night's game will be the first-ever meeting between Lehigh (0-3) and UCLA (2-1). Should the Mountain Hawks win, they would earn their first win against a Power 5 opponent since 2016 when Lehigh defeated Mississippi State 87-73.
Lehigh dropped a close 76-75 result to Columbia in their last game on Tuesday. The Mountain Hawks found themselves down by 11 with under a minute and a half to play, but senior Keith Higgins Jr. willed Lehigh back into the game by hitting four threes in under 1:23. He finished the night with a career-high 28 points and seven made threes. Tied 75-75, a late foul ultimately put Columbia on the line to give them the win. The Mountain Hawks shot 54.7% from the field and 40.9% from three in the loss. Tommy Conniff reached a new career-high himself, notching 10 points on an efficient 4-5 shooting in 18 minutes off the bench. Tyler Whitney-Sidney joined Conniff and Higgins in double figures with 10 points to go along with four assists and three rebounds.
The Bruins enter Friday night's game with a 2-1 record, picking up wins over Rider and Boston University while falling 72-64 to New Mexico. The Bruins moved from the Pac-12 conference to the Big Ten this past offseason. Head coach Mick Cronin enters his sixth season at the helm of the program, having brought them to a Final Four in 2021. Junior Tyler Bilodeau leads the Bruins offensively with a scoring average of 15.7 points per game while also leading the team with 8.0 rebounds per game.
Following Friday's game at Pauley Pavilion, the Mountain Hawks will host Valley Forge on Wednesday, November 20 for the team's home opener.
