Lehigh Earns 3-2 Win On Senior Day

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women's soccer team defeated Patriot League foe Holy Cross 3-2 on Senior Day.

Prior to Saturday's game, fifth year Ava Schaller along with seniors Zoe Schutter, Corinne Lyght, Hope Flanegin and Faith Dobosiewicz were recognized for their contributions to the Lehigh women's soccer program.

In the 28th minute, Lehigh was awarded a corner kick in which first-year Taylor Latini sent a ball in to Flanegin who put it away giving Lehigh a 1-0 lead.

The Mountain Hawks 1-0 lead carried through intermission. In the opening half, Holy Cross outshot Lehigh 5-3.

Holy Cross struck early in the second half, cutting Lehigh's lead to 2-1 in the 52nd minute.

In the 71st minute, sophomore Cyndea Labissiere dribbled the ball through the midfield, putting Lehigh up 2-0 with a long shot from outside the box.

The Mountain Hawks maintained momentum, striking again in the 73rd minute as first-year Summer Hill scored her first career goal off an assist from Lyght.Â

Holy Cross earned a penalty kick in the 78th minute of the contest. Alyssa Pettet put it away as Lehigh led 3-2 with just over 10 minutes remaining.

Junior goalkeeper Maggie Ousoujoglou made four saves while Holy Cross's Julia Walsh recorded two.

Shots were tied at 11-11 while Holy Cross out-cornered the Mountain Hawks 11-7.

Lehigh (2-7-4, 1-4 PL) travels to Colgate for a 6 p.m. matchup on Wednesday evening.
