Lehigh to Begin Road Swing Against Columbia

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh men's soccer team will hit the road to take on Columbia on Friday in New York at 7 p.m. Friday's game will be the first of a four game road trip for the Mountain Hawks. 

Lehigh comes into the match with an 0-1-1 record. Friday's game will be the season opener for the Lions. 

First-year forward Thomas Robertson converted a penalty kick in the 38th minute, which was the lone goal for Lehigh in the 1-1 tie against Temple.. It was also Robertson's first career goal. First-year defender Trey Sheeler scored Lehigh's other goal of the season in the 2-1 loss to St. John's on Aug. 24. 

There were eight cards in Lehigh's game on Monday, and senior Michael Laret got sent off in the 84th minute after he picked up his second yellow card of the game. Despite Lehigh playing down a man for six minutes, the Mountain Hawks didn't let Temple record a single shot for the remainder of the game. 

The Mountain Hawks are 1-1 all-time against Lions. The first meeting was in 2006, where the Mountain Hawks won 2-0, and the latest meeting came in 2007, where Lehigh was defeated 4-3 in overtime. 

Senior goalkeeper Blake Koski has started the first two games in net for the Mountain Hawks. Koski recorded  a game-high of five saves for Lehigh in the 1-1 tie against Temple. 

The Lions finished 1-9-6 last season, with their lone win coming against St. John's, who Lehigh has played the last two seasons. Columbia averaged. .50 goals per game and gave up 1.56 goals per game last season.

Lehigh will head to Philadelphia on Tuesday to on La Salle at 6 p.m
