BETHLEHEM, Pa. – One day after earning first team All-Patriot League honors, the three senior members of the Lehigh softball team were recognized for their work in the classroom. Graduate student Carley Barjaktarovich and seniors Josie Charles and Emily Cimino were named to the Academic All-Patriot League team announced Wednesday afternoon.

Barjaktarovich is now a three-time Academic All-League honoree, while Cimino earns academic honors for the second straight season. Charles earns her first career Academic All-Patriot League recognition.

The Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Academic All-Patriot League teams are voted on by the league's sports information directors. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.

On the field, Barjaktarovich became a three-time All-Patriot League honoree after earning a spot on the first team for the second straight year. Barjaktarovich leads Lehigh with 76 hits and 19 stolen bases. She ranks second with a .400 batting average and is currently riding a school-record 34-game hitting streak.

Cimino is a biology major with a 3.71 GPA. She and Barjaktarovich were both Academic All-District honorees a season ago.

Lehigh's No. 3 hitter and starting right fielder, Cimino leads the Mountain Hawks with 15 doubles and 44 RBIs to go along with a .331 batting average and six home runs.

Charles enjoyed the best on-field season of her Lehigh career, which resulted in both academic and athletic recognition. She holds a 3.84 GPA majoring in industrial and systems engineering.

The Mountain Hawks' starting left fielder, Charles leads the brown and white with a .415 batting average and has racked up 68 hits, including 12 extra base hits, while stealing 18 bases, scoring 34 runs and driving in 25.
