Lehigh Completes Series Sweep of Bucknell For 10th Straight Win

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Graduate Student Carley Barjaktarovich went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and junior Katelyn Young helped her own strong pitching performance with a two-run double as Lehigh completed a series sweep of Bucknell with a 5-1 victory Sunday at Leadership Park.
The Mountain Hawks pounded out 13 hits on the way to their 10th consecutive victory as Lehigh improves to 27-6 overall and 6-0 in the Patriot League after two weekends of league play.
Young opened the scoring with a two-run double down the right field line in the bottom of the second to give Lehigh the early 2-0.
Bucknell (9-20, 1-5 PL) pulled a run back in the third when Makenzie Hilling's infield pop-up fell in for a single that plated Marissa Rapino.
Sunday's game was played under abundant sunshine but with temperatures in the mid-40s and blustery winds that turned pop-ups into adventures.
Lehigh re-established a two-run lead in the fourth as junior Brooke Cannon capped a two-out rally with a single up the middle that scored first-year Lily Owens.
Barjaktarovich's third hit of the day was a two-run single to center in the fifth that gave the Mountain Hawks their 5-1 advantage.
Owens, senior Emily Cimino and junior Amanda Greaney all had two hits Sunday for the Mountain Hawks.
In the circle, Young allowed a run on five hits with one walk and eight strikeouts as she improved to 14-3 on the season.
Lehigh will be off from league play next weekend and has four non-league games on this week's slate. The Mountain Hawks will visit Princeton Wednesday for a single 4 p.m. game. Lehigh will then host Seton Hall for three games with a doubleheader set for Friday at 1 p.m. followed by a single game Saturday at 1 p.m.
