
Lehigh Claims Team Title At Lafayette's ABARTA Collegiate Invitational

EASTON, Pa. – The Lehigh men's golf team completed a wire-to-wire victory Monday at Lafayette's ABARTA Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational. After shooting a tournament-best 279 on Sunday, the Mountain Hawks tied for Monday's low round, shooting three over par 291 to finish at 570. Lehigh topped an 18-team field and defeated co-runners up Colgate and Fairfield by seven strokes.

The team championship is Lehigh's third of the 2022-23 season. The Mountain Hawks also won Binghamton's Matthews Auto Intercollegiate and the Alabama A&M Golf Classic in the fall.

Lehigh's top finisher was sophomore Aidan Oehrle, who finished at four under par 140 (68-72). He made two birdies and an eagle in Monday's final round and tied for second place, four strokes behind medalist Killian McGinley of Fairfield.

Senior Daniel Song finished in fourth place, one stroke behind Oehrle at 141 (68-73). Song carded four birdies in his final round.

Lehigh's low round Monday was turned in by senior David Hurly, who shot 71 and moved into the top 10 by tying for ninth place at 144 (73-71). Hurly made four birdies and was two under par through nine holes.

Senior Sam Barton tied for 25th place at 146 (70-76). Barton's final round included three birdies.

Junior Edmund Broderick also made three birdies Monday and tied for 43rd place at 149 (74-75).

First-year Aiden LeBlanc was the low individual in the field, tying for 25th place at 146 (74-72). LeBlanc had three birdies, three bogeys and 12 pars in his final round 72.

Also competing as an individual was first-year Jake Roth, who tied for 31st place at 147 (70-77). Roth's final round included two birdies and an eagle.

The Mountain Hawks will now shift focus to the Patriot League Championship, hosted by Loyola, April 28-30 at Hillendale Country Club in Phoenix, Md.
