Strong Team Effort Has Lehigh Leading ABARTA Collegiate Invitational After Round One

EASTON, Pa. – The Lehigh men's golf team enjoyed a strong start to Lafayette's ABARTA Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational, as the Mountain Hawks shot nine under par 279 as a team Sunday at Northampton Country Club. Three of Lehigh's five scoring players shot 70 or better as the Mountain Hawks lead an 18-team field by three strokes. Fairfield sits in second place, while Iona and host Lafayette are tied for third.
 
Sophomore Aidan Oehrle and senior Daniel Song delivered the low round of the day for Lehigh as both players shot four under par 68. Oehrle carded seven birdies in his round, while Song made five. The Lehigh duo is part of a three-way tie for second place behind leader Killian McGinley of Fairfield.
 
Senior Sam Barton shot two under par 70 and is tied for eighth place. Barton was right there with Oehrle and Song, making five birdies on the day, but made double bogey on his final hole Sunday.
 
Senior David Hurly shot one over par 73 and is tied for 31st place. Hurly made three birdies in his opening round.
 
Junior Edmund Broderick is tied for 41st place after shooting two over par 74. Broderick recorded a pair of birdies in his first round.
 
First-years Jake Roth and Aiden LeBlanc are competing as individuals. Roth shot 70 and is part of the tie for eighth place. He carded five birdies and an eagle three on the second hole. LeBlanc is tied for 41st after making one birdie in his round of 74.
 
The ABARTA Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational concludes Monday with the final 18 holes of play beginning at 9 a.m.
