Lehigh Leads Field After Wet Opening Round Of Patriot League Championship

PHOENIX, Md. – The Lehigh men's golf team battled wet, windy conditions on day one of the Patriot League Championship and the Mountain Hawks battled to a score of 307 Friday at Hillendale Country Club. Three players shot rounds of four over par 76 as Lehigh leads the eight team field following the first 18 of 54 holes.

Colgate is in second place, one stroke behind the Mountain Hawks, while Navy is third at 314.

Lehigh's trio of players who shot 76 include sophomore Aidan Oehrle, senior Daniel Song and junior Edmund Broderick. All three players are tied for third place.

Army West Point's John Heckel Jr. and Colgate's Robbie Herzig are tied for the lead after rounds of three over par 75.

Broderick led all Lehigh players with two birdies Friday. Oehrle and Song both made one.

First-year Jake Roth shot 79 and is tied for 16th place. Roth also made one birdie in his opening round.

Senior Sam Barton is tied for 28th place after shooting 81 and senior David Hurly shot 86 and is tied for 44th place. Hurly did birdie his first hole of the day.

The Patriot League Championship continues Saturday with round two. The start of play has been pushed back two hours to 9:30 a.m. Lehigh will play alongside Colgate and Navy with tee times beginning at 11:30 a.m.
