BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh's Murray H. Goodman '48 head men's basketball coach Dr. Brett Reed announced the signing of Joshua Ingram and Jake Pike as the newest members of the class of 2027. The guard and forward will join the likes of Cam Gillis and Nasir Whitlock that were announced in November to round out the recruiting class for the Mountain Hawks and look to add depth and skill to the Mountain Hawks in the 2023-24 season.
Ingram, a 6-4 shooting guard, comes to Lehigh from Metuchen, N.J. and St. Joseph's Metuchen high school where he averaged 22 points, 7.7 rebounds, four assists and two steals per game this past season on a squad that finished the year with a record of 18-11 and was a non-public A finalist. He was also the CJSR Boys' Basketball Player of the Year and the Central Jersey GMC Player of the Year.
Â
"We welcome Josh into our program. He is a player who is an excellent shooter but also has a knack for scoring. He can create angles off the dribble and is also athletic enough to finish in a variety of ways at the rim," stated Reed. "Josh has continued to grow his game month after month, and if that improvement trajectory continues, he should have an excellent career at Lehigh.
"Josh was seeking an opportunity that presented both very competitive basketball as well as an excellent academic opportunity. I am pleased that Josh found us and that we found him. We look forward to watching his full growth as a player, student and person over his four years with us."
Â
Ingram said this about joining the Mountain Hawks' program, "I am grateful to say I'm Committed to Lehigh University. I'm very excited to get this opportunity to play at a high-level school and hopefully leave my mark in this program."
Â
Pike is a 6-8 power forward from Houston, Texas and St. Thomas High School that averaged 15 points, eight rebounds, two assists and one steal per contest and was a part of a 28-3 team that was crowned regional champions. He's a three-time all-state and all-district honoree and is well-rounded, playing the piano and viola. Pike was also the student-body President, the House President and the recipient of the Gold Presidential Service Award.
Â
"We are pleased to have Jake join Lehigh. Jake's combination of size, athleticism and skill will be great attributes for our program," noted Reed. "His perimeter shooting range will allow him to put pressure on defenses and open up floor space for our offensive attack. His combination of size and athleticism should also allow him to guard multiple positions as well as effectively rebound the basketball for us.
"Jake is a future focused person who's also a great student. He should thrive over his undergraduate career as he seeks the academic growth opportunities Lehigh can provide for him. Lehigh is getting a consummate student-athlete in Jake."
Â
Pike commented on his decision to be a part of the Lehigh, "I'm so thankful for all my friends, family and coaches who helped me get to this point. I can't wait to get onto campus with Coach Reed and the team and get to work. I have my eyes set on a Patriot League Championship!"
