Strong Third Place Finish For Mountain Hawks at Wildcat Invitational

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Senior David Hurly and sophomore Aidan Oehrle finished in the top five individually as the Lehigh men's golf team posted a third place finish at the Wildcat Invitational, which wrapped up Tuesday at LuLu Country Club. The Mountain Hawks' final round 283 was the only under-par score for the second round. Lehigh's final total of 573 (290-283) placed the Mountain Hawks third out of 15 teams.
 
Host Villanova won the team title at 568 (282-286), while La Salle was second, two strokes behind the Wildcats and three ahead of Lehigh.
 
Hurly tied for second place at three under par 139 (70-69). He made four birdies in his final round 69 including three in the nine holes that were completed on Tuesday.
 
Oehrle shot even par 71 in round two to tie for fourth place at one under par 141 (70-71). He matched Hurly with four birdies in round two and also made three on the back nine on Tuesday.
 
First-year Will Caronchi also shot a 71 in his final round and was Lehigh's No. 3 finisher, tying for 18th place at 145 (74-71). Caronchi made three birdies in his final round including one on Tuesday.
 
Senior Daniel Song tied for 32nd place at 148 (76-72). He made three birdies in round two including one in the final round.
 
One stroke behind Song was senior Sam Barton, who tied for 39th place at 149 (76-73).
 
Junior Edmund Broderick had a strong tournament as an individual, tying for 13th place at 144 (71-73). Broderick's second round also included four birdies.
 
Villanova's Peter Weaver shot nine under par 133 (68-65) to earn medalist honors Hurly tied with La Salle's Anthony Garcia for second place, six strokes off the lead.
 
The Mountain Hawks will be back in action this weekend when they will compete in Lafayette's Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational, April 16-17 at Northampton Country Club in Easton.
