First-year Lily Owens tallied four hits on the day while junior Brooke Cannon drove in three runs over the two games. In the circle, first-year Chloe Hess threw 10 innings of one-run ball over the two games, picking up a save and a victory. Lehigh is now 24-6 on the season.
Owens opened the scoring with a solo home run off the glove of Quaker right fielder Julia Mortimer in the bottom of the first inning. Senior Josie Charles then singled home classmate Emily Cimino to give the Mountain Hawks a 2-0 lead after one inning.
Penn scored its first run in the second inning on an RBI double by Sammy Fenton, but Lehigh answered in the bottom of the frame as Cannon singled home graduate student Carley Barjaktarovich.
The Quakers pulled within 3-2 after Danica Larwill's RBI single in the fourth but Lehigh added a run in the bottom of the fourth and three in the fifth to build a six-run cushion.
Sophomore Maddy Schmeiser blooped a single into left field to score Lindsey Martin in the fourth and in the fifth Cannon, Charles and first-year Abbey Tabaka delivered RBI singles.
Sophomore Maria Urban started in the circle and allowed two runs on three hits with a strikeout and four walks. She earned her fourth victory of the season. Hess threw three innings of scoreless, one-hit ball to earn the save.
Owens went 3-for-4 and finished a double shy of the cycle, while Cannon and Charles both went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Game two was scoreless into the third inning when Cannon singled to right to score Owens. In the fourth, Lehigh extended its lead to 3-0 on a pinch-hit two-run double to left center by junior Katelyn Young.
Fenton doubled home Penn's only run of game two in the sixth inning but Hess came back with three straight outs to strand the tying runs at second and third.
