Lehigh Ends Weekend with 4-0 Win Over Howard

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Mountain Hawks showed no signs of slowing down in their final match of the weekend as the Lehigh men's tennis team defeated Howard 4-0 inside the Lewis Indoor Tennis Center on Sunday morning to secure its third win of the season.Â
Lehigh opened up the match by winning all three doubles matches to secure the early 1-0 lead. Sophomores Marc Blekhman and Sean Jaeger picked up Lehigh's first win of the day. The duo defeated Howard's Daniel Dunac and Gabriel Knowles 6-1 at the No. 2 spot.Â
Senior Matt Kleiman and first-year Aristotelis Bezianis secured the doubles point for the Mountain Hawks, defeating Hassimiyou Dieng and Pierce Westbrook 6-2 at the No. 3 spot. Lehigh completed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 win from senior Jeremy Learner and junior Jordan Paul at the No. 1 spot.Â
The Mountain Hawks continued to dominate during singles play, capturing wins in the first three singles matches to secure their third win of the season. Paul gave Lehigh the 2-0 lead with a win at the No. 3 spot during singles. The junior defeated Dieng 6-0, 6-2.Â
Following Paul's singles win, Blekhman picked up a singles win of his own at the No. 2 spot. The sophomore defeated Howard's Marcel Dawson 7-5, 6-2.Â
With a 3-0 lead over the Bison, Kleiman completed the sweep and secured Lehigh's third win of the season at the No. 1 spot. The senior defeated Justin Cadeau 6-1, 1-6, 7-5.Â
The Mountain Hawks will return to action next weekend with two more matches inside the Lewis Indoor Tennis Center. Lehigh will host Hofstra on Friday, Feb. 17 at 4:30 p.m. Following their Friday afternoon match, the Mountain Hawks will host Morgan State on Saturday, Feb. 18 with the start time still to be determined.Â
