
Mountain Hawks, Hurly, Capture Titles At Lehigh Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's golf team finished its fall season with a flourish. The Mountain Hawks' "A" team erased a nine-stroke first-round deficit to capture the team title at the Lehigh Invitational, which wrapped up Saturday on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club. Graduate student David Hurly led the way, claiming individual medalist honors at two under par 142 (72-70) to claim a one stroke victory.

Lehigh's win is its first of 2023-24 after the Mountain Hawks won four tournaments, including the Patriot League Championship, last season. Hurly notches his second win of the fall after winning the Temple Invitational, Sept. 16-17.

The Mountain Hawks shot three under par 285 Saturday to finish at 11 over par 587 (302-285). Lehigh posted a nine stroke win over Siena, while Towson finished third. Lehigh's "B" team held the 18-hole team lead and finished fourth at 601 (293-308).

Hurly's final round 70 included three birdies and his second eagle in as many days, this one coming on the par 5 15th hole. Nolan Crowley of Siena was the runner up at one under par 143.

Junior Aidan Oehrle and senior Edmund Broderick joined Hurly in the top 10 for the "A" team as both players tied for seventh at 147. Oehrle went 76-71 with five birdies in his final round. Broderick went 77-70 and made four birdies on Saturday.

Sophomore Will Caronchi tied for 20th place at 151 (77-74). Caronchi made four birdies and eagled the par 4 8th hole. Classmate Aiden LeBlanc shot 155 (79-76) and tied for 38th. LeBlanc made three birdies in his final round.

Junior Jahan Bains led the "B" team tying for 12th place at 149 (71-78).

Fifth-year Sam Barton and first-year Matt Quinn both tied for 20th with identical scores of 151 (75-76). Barton made two birdies Saturday while Quinn carded four.

Sophomore Jake Roth tied for 29th at 153 (72-81) and made one birdie in his final round. First-year Charles Schrohe made three birdies in his final round and tied for 38th at 155 (77-78).

Lehigh's individual, sophomore Paulius Malcius, tied for 52nd place at 158 (74-84). Malcius made two birdies on Saturday.
