Women's Cross Country To Race At ECAC Championships Friday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – With Lehigh's own Paul Short Run in the rearview mirror, women's cross country now sets its sights on its final regular season meet of the season at the ECAC Championships. The Mountain Hawks will travel to New York City to compete at Van Cortlandt Park on Friday at 11:30 a.m.
Lehigh last competed at the 49th annual Paul Short Run on September 30. The Mountain Hawks placed 28th at the event in a pool of 44 teams in the women's Gold 6k run.
Senior Christina Yakaboski was Lehigh's top finisher, crossing the line in 21:41.1 while placing 92nd in the Gold 6k. Sophomore Lucy Afanasewicz finished in second place for Lehigh in 125th place with a time of 21:57.6. The two came in first and second for the Mountain Hawks in 2022 as well, except both runners improved their finish by nearly 70 spots each in 2023.
Other Lehigh runners competing in the Paul Short Gold 6k race were Maddison Hayes (133rd, 22:00.1), Lindsay MacLellan (153rd, 22:10.0), Savanah Beavers (210th, 22:35.0), Abigail Tenreiro (307th, 23:24.4), Elisa Brear (318th, 23:29.9), Grace Kolbe (325th, 23:33.2), Grace Hughes (358th, 24:12.7) and Andrine Larsen (372nd, 24:43.3).
Last season, the Mountain Hawks ran in these very same ECAC Championships, placing ninth in a pool of over 30 teams. Afanasewicz and Yakaboski were also Lehigh's top finisher in this event last season, coming in 20th place and 40th place respectively. This will be Lehigh's final competition before the Patriot League Championship in Hamilton, N.Y. on October 28. Live results can be found at https://www.leonetiming.com/.
