BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh first-year Rory Dudley has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week the league announced Monday. Dudley went 1-for-6 in the Mountain Hawks' series win at first-place Boston University, but her lone hit was a big one – a three-run home run that provided the only offense in Lehigh's 3-0, game-two victory on Saturday.
Â
This is the third Rookie of the Week award for Dudley.
Â
In Saturday's second game, Dudley came up with two on and one out in the top of the second inning and drilled an 0-1 pitch over the left centerfield fence for her second home run of the season. The home run provided the only offense in Lehigh's 3-0 victory, which snapped Boston University's 27-game winning streak, at the time the longest active winning stream in the nation. Lehigh also halted BU's 33-game Patriot League winning streak and its 25-game home winning streak.
Â
Dudley is now batting .238 with two home runs and 14 RBIs in 41 games this season, seeing time at first base and behind the plate.
Â
Seniors Jaelynn Chesson and Gabriella Nori also picked up honorable mention recognition Monday. Chesson went 2-for-3 with five RBIs in Sunday's series finale as the Mountain Hawks won the series with a 5-2 victory. Nori kept the Terriers at bay following Dudley's home run, blanking BU for her first shutout of the season and the fourth of her career. She allowed six hits, walked one and struck out three on the way to her 10th victory of the season.
Â
Lehigh won all six of its Patriot League series to finish the regular season at 26-17-1 overall and 15-3 in the Patriot League.
Â
The Mountain Hawks will open the Patriot League Tournament against Army West Point Thursday at approximately 2:30 p.m. in Boston. Top seed Boston University will open the tournament against Colgate in Thursday's first game beginning at noon. The entire tournament will be broadcast on ESPN+.
