Pineda Ties For Top Honors at Prospect Bay Intercollegiate

GRASONVILLE, Md. – First-year Madison Pineda posted her fourth consecutive top 10 individual finish this spring to lead the Lehigh women's golf team at the Prospect Bay Intercollegiate, which wrapped up on Sunday. Pineda finished the two-day, 54-hole event at 229 and was part of a three-way tie for medalist honors.
On the basis of matching scorecards, starting at the 18th hole on Sunday, Pineda officially ended up in third place. Kaylee Sakoda of Quinnipiac was the individual medalist by way of her par on the 16th hole, while Dartmouth's Katherine Sung parred the 18th hole to be the runner up.
Pineda's 229 included a 74 and 78 Saturday and then a 77 on Sunday. She was two under on the front nine with a pair of birdies but went seven over on the back nine.
Lehigh shot 323 in the final round and finished fifth out of 15 teams at 959 (323-313-323).
Sophomores Sophie Holland and Meghna Grover and junior Hannah Foster all carded rounds of 82 on Sunday. Holland made one birdie on Sunday and tied for 14th place at 237 (79-76-82). Grover tied for 27th at 244 (86-76-82) and made two birdies in her final round. Foster also made two birdies in her final round. She tied for 45th place at 249 (84-83-82).
Junior Iris Shin carded a 262 for the tournament (92-84-86) and finished in 65th place.
Dartmouth and Penn tied for the team title at 931 with the Big Green claiming the first place trophy by way of the lower score for the fifth player.
The Mountain Hawks will now shift focus to the Patriot League Championship, April 15-17 in Annapolis, Md.
