Pineda, Holland in the Hunt After Day One of Prospect Bay Intercollegiate

GRASONVILLE, Md. – It was a strong first day at the Prospect Bay Intercollegiate for the Lehigh women's golf team. The Mountain Hawks played 36 holes Saturday and posted scores of 323 and 313 to sit in fourth place out of 15 at 636 entering Sunday's final round.
First-year Madison Pineda shot an opening round 74, which tied her for the 18-hole individual lead and tied for the low round of the day Saturday. Pineda made three birdies in her opening round. In the afternoon, Pineda started on the back nine and was six over par at the turn, but steadied herself over her second nine holes, shooting even par 36. Pineda shot 78 in the afternoon and currently sits in fourth place at eight over par 152.
Sophomores Sophie Holland and Meghna Grover both shot 76 in the afternoon to lead the Mountain Hawks in round two. Holland totaled five birdies over her two rounds and joins Pineda in the top 10 as she is currently in seventh place at 155 (79-76).
Grover made three birdies, including two in the afternoon, and shaved 10 strokes off of her first round score. At 162 (86-76), Grover sits in a tie for 24th place.
Junior Hannah Foster finished day one at 167 (84-83) and is tied for 42nd place. Foster made one birdie in her afternoon round. Junior Iris Shin sits in 67th place at 176, rebounding from a morning 92 with an 84 in the afternoon.
Dartmouth leads the team standings at 619 (302-317), six strokes better than Penn and Quinnipiac, who are tied for second.
Three players are tied for the individual lead at 151, one stroke ahead of Pineda: Katherine Sung of Dartmouth, Kaylee Sakoda of Quinnipiac and Natalie Cao of Penn.
The Prospect Bay Intercollegiate concludes Sunday with the final round beginning at 7:45 a.m.
